Point, Line and Plane
2017-2018
This program originates from the artist’s ongoing exploration of the body, perception, and modes of relating to others. Participants connect their bodies using elastic bands, collectively weaving them into a flexible, responsive surface. Rather than forming a fixed structure, this surface continuously shifts and transforms according to the participants’ movements, tensions, and cooperation.
The act of bouncing a ball on this collectively constructed surface extends beyond play. It invites participants to experience balance and responsiveness not as individual actions, but as a shared, collective body. The movement of the ball cannot be controlled by a single person; it emerges through subtle distributions of force, timing, and an attentive awareness of others.
In this process, vision is no longer the dominant sense. Instead, perception expands into a multi-sensory experience shaped by touch, tension, rhythm, and the sensing of others’ movements. Participants come to perceive space and one another not by seeing alone, but through shared sensation and responsive interaction.
Developed during the artist’s residency at the Seoul Art Education Center and the Gyeonggi Creation Center, this program proposes art as a space for reconfiguring sensory experience and relational awareness, rather than a means of transmitting knowledge. Here, education is understood not as a goal-oriented process, but as a situated practice in which different bodies come together to collectively produce experience.
